Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, collapsed outside the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has slammed him with a 12-count charge for money laundering amounting to N33.8 billion. Before the court proceedings began, Mamman's lawyer, Femi Ate, informed Judge James Omotosho that his client had fainted due to ill health. When the hearing resumed, Mamman, with his clothes partly soaked, walked into the courtroom and stepped into the dock. The judge asked Mamman why he was sweating or if it had rained. Mamman replied that water had been poured on him. EFCC counsel Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika informed the court about an incident outside the courtroom and said he had discussed Mamman’s health with Ate. Okowa laments food insufficiency, urges more investment in agriculture

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has raised concern over rising food insufficiency in the country and called for more investment in agricultural development to curb the trend. Okowa, who spoke, at the weekend, after inspecting a multi-billion naira Agro Allied Industrial Palm Limited built on a 1,400 hectare of land owned by Akwukwu-Igbo, Ugbolu and Ilah communities in Oshimili North Local Council of the state, said that the oil palm production was one area that wealthy Deltans and indeed, Nigerians, could invest in to create job opportunities and economic development of the people. The governor, who is vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that the project, which is a joint venture between Norsworthy Farms and Agro Allied Industries Limited and the Delta State Government, had successfully planted over 250,000 oil palm trees. Gbadamosi Adegoke Adelabu Gbadamosi Adegoke Adelabu (3 September 1915 – 25 March 1958) held a prominent position in the politics of Ibadan city and subsequently the Western Region of Nigeria in the period leading up to the country's independence in 1960. Serving as Nigeria's Minister of Natural Resources and Social Services from January 1955 to January 1956, he later assumed the role of opposition leader in the Western Regional Assembly until his passing in 1958.
