The Nigerian Army has refuted rumors claiming that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ted Lagbaja, is dead. The Army denied the reports in a post on its official handle, describing the news as fake and dismissing media reports suggesting a leadership vacuum.

 The Army clarified that the Army Chief is on official leave and protocols have been put in place for Major General Abdus Salami Ibrahim to act on his behalf as the Chief of Policy and Plans. The Army emphasized that it has well-laid-out procedures and processes for dealing with different circumstances.
