President Tinubu Sack 5 Ministers, Makes 7 Fresh Nominations
In a significant cabinet reshuffle, President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers and nominated seven new individuals for various ministerial roles, along with reassigning ten others. This reshuffle, announced after the president’s first Federal Executive Council meeting since his two-week work visit, aligns with efforts to revitalize his administration amidst fluctuating approval ratings.
Key changes include the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta, now integrated into the newly established Ministry of Regional Development, responsible for managing all regional development commissions nationwide. The Ministry of Sports Development has been disbanded, and the Ministry of Tourism merged with the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, left vacant since January, is set to have a new minister appointed. This restructuring follows recommendations by Hadiza Bala Usman, the Special Advisor on Policy and Coordination, who has also introduced a citizen feedback system, the Citizens Delivery Tracker app, to enable public input on ministry performances.

2. Labor and Employment: Muhammad D. Yadi
3. State for Foreign Affairs: Bian Joko
4. Industry, Trade, and Investment: J. Dali
5. Livestock Development: Ed Mukara
6. State for Housing and Urban Development: Yusuf Ata
7. State for Education: Sueba Ahmed
Reassigned Ministers Include:
- Abubakar Momo, previously overseeing Delta Development, now heads the new Ministry of Regional Development.
- Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sonono, reassigned to Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
- Former Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imansu Ibrahim, is now the Minister of Women Affairs.
