Police Arrested 18 #EndSARS Memorial Protest for Not writing to the Commissioners of Police before there gathering in

 

The police arrested people at the #EndSARS memorial protest because they didn't get permission from the Commissioners of Police in Lagos.

 

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State stated that they had received information from social media about plans to celebrate the fourth anniversary of #EndSARS. The Commissioner mentioned that according to the law, the organizers should have notified the police by writing a letter to seek permission for the gathering.

 Since they did not inform the police, such a gathering is considered illegal. As a result, the police will not allow it to happen. The Commissioner emphasized that while people have the right to protest, it must be done in accordance with the law. The police have been present at various traditional gathering points since midnight to prevent any disruptions. 

The Commissioner also assured that security measures have been increased throughout Lagos to ensure better policing.
