Fraudulent Act by the Chinese company Jong Jang Fuchang Industrial Investment Company Limited
The federal government has described as fraudulent efforts by the Chinese company Jong Jang Fuchang Industrial Investment Company Limited to take over some jets in Nigeria's presidential air fleet as fraudulent. A statement signed by the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, asserts that the federal government is not under any contractual obligation with the company.
Mr. Onanuga was responding to reports that the French Court had approved the seizure of three Nigerian presidential jets, including a newly purchased Airbus, amid a legal dispute between Jongshan and the Ogun State government.
The statement reads in part, "The federal government is not under any contractual obligation with the company. The case in which Jongshan tries to use unorthodox means to strip our offshore assets is between the company and the Ogun State government." The statement further states that the Chinese company may have misled the judicial court of Paris regarding the use and nature of the assets it seeks to attach and did not fully disclose to the court as required by law.
Having failed to enforce similar judgments in the United Kingdom and the United States, Mr. Onanuga says the federal government is working with the state government to discharge the frivolous order in Paris.
