Some of the women activists commend supreme court's decision on local overment Autonomy

Some gender inclusion activists have aided the granting of or have welcomed the granting of the autonomy to local governments now the women who were speaking at a meeting in Abuja say they look forward to low empowering women at the Grassroots level toward improving their well-being as well as political participation they also spoke on the need to strengthen the nation's laws in order to protect women and of course young girls today we are celebrating yesterday Judgment of Supreme Court on local government financial autonomy.

Joy Ngozi Ezeilo  Also said And I'm like yes this money supposed to come to the local government and that's supposed to improve government closest to the Grassroots how many women are there in that local government system how many are Cil chair at that [Music] level you will get one in some State highest two and nothing in majority of the in the 774 local government if you say the STA you hardly get 2% representation in all of it so it is really poor we need to do something there is also the issue of equality commission or equal opportunity commission.

 This is based on the current the agitation that the current federal character commission be transformed to equal opportunity commission why because it talks about composition of the Federation shall be such that there is no dominance of one ethnic group or the other and we're saying that gender character should also form part of it because even within the different ethnic groupings in all and across the country there is no one ethnic group that promotes women's right or you say women have better representation
