Nationwide Planned Protest: IGP Meets Police Commissioners, Cautions Against Hijack, Violent Conduct
With less than a week remaining for the August first planned Nationwide protest over economic hardships.
The Inspector General of police convey this meeting with strategic police managers to review plans to ensure that the force is adequately prepared to provide security for peaceful protesters and the conduct of the protest
The Inspector General of police Kayode Egbetokun said the force is prepared to manage the protest professionally while warning that any act of violence will not be condone from hoodlums who will want to hijack the proposed protest to cause violence leading to destruction of lives and properties.
He also said if the protest is peaceful you will see us protecting the protesters for as long they remain peaceful but we have a duty to protect lives and property so we will not sit back and watch hoodlums burning down our facilities in the name of protest that will not condone.
Will the proposed Nationwide protest hold as planned earlier the presidency had called an appeal to the youth shave their plans to hold a protest only time will tell.
