Police Seal SSANU, NASU Protest In Abuja Over Four Months Withheld Salaries.
Earlier today Police Stopped members of the nonacademic staff unions of universities from proceeding on a protest to demand payment of their withheld salaries.
As early 6: a.m. armed Personnel were deployed with armored vehicles and helux vans to barricade the entrance of popular Unity fountain in Maitama District of Abuja the meeting point of the union members.
The up City Commissioner of police Benneth Igweh who was at the venue told union leaders they will not use the Abuja street for their protest but the General Secretary of NASU Peter Adeyemi insisted appropriate authorities were informed of the planned protest.
SSANU and NASU held nationwide protest last week and resolved on a mega rally in Abuja this Thursday should the government not pay their four Month salary areas .
