Kylian joining Real Madrid is not the same as Cristiano joining in 2009.
Before Cristiano Ronaldo joined in the summer of 2009, Real Madrid were in dire straits. The club had gone 5 straight years without reaching the quarterfinals of the Champions League. In LALIGA as well, Real Madrid was suffocating in the advent of the Pep Guardiola and Messi era. Despite all these, Ronaldo had the guts to leave a great Manchester United side (one of Europe's best at the time, only second to Barca) to join a team that had to rebuild from scratch and face the scourge of an unplayable FC Barcelona. While the move speaks volumes of Real Madrid's evergreen pull, huge credit must be given to Ronaldo for mustering the courage to make the move at a time when he needed to stay at the uppermost echelon of the game, competing for the biggest titles.
Nothing was certain, yet he was bold enough to move to Madrid and the rest is history. Real Madrid needed a saviour and Ronaldo was there. He became the foundation of an empire led by Mourinho which finally overthrew the Pep team and even eventually dominated the entire Europe.
On the contrary, Kylian is joining a Real Madrid side that is on top of the continent and his addition feels like more of a luxury rather than a real need. Much respect to Kylian, but that RONALDO move and what ensued was of another level.
