Can that be effective and impactful only if the local government are to have Financial autonomy?

Well for me I think that the local governments have been Bastardized for a very long time and has been choked has been brought under total subjugation and this has greatly affected the development of Nigeria don't forget that Nigeria runs a federal system of government that is predicated on distribution or sharing of powers between the central government and the constituent units.

 And in the federal system of government each units exist to complement each other none is superior to to the other when you talk about federal government like the central government it is from the power is been shared power, the is is the where power Devolution exists from the central to the constituent units  and each of these constituent units do not have to be at longer heads with each other because they exist to complement each other, in fact none is superior under the federal principles, none is superior to another, and so a situation where you not have state Governors and you know this has been happening since the turn of this democracy since 1999 

he also said when we were growing up we used to see local government officials we used to feel them we used to see them work in fact when I was growing up that was when they laid the pipes on my street that gave us water we fesh water directly from the street, this nowadays when you don't have money such can't afford such water.

And remeber it is because of the way these people have destroyed the local government system that is why local government can no longer offer those Services to his people, before local government used to tie roads, local government used to build schools, even hospitals and all of that. Now from the time the state Governors now constituted themselves into an Unholy set of people they totally destroy local government Administration that is why you now see a situation where people no longer have good mind in this position, because professor doctors and many of this people will not even like that, only those that can not even speak, will then come in.

 Now if you check the crop of people that are in the local government you'll be so surprised before now you'll see the kind of people that contest for councelors was not meant for it, before people even a professor will contest for a local government chairman you see people of High intellect contested to become counselors but now. but now you call me come and contest for counselor I just feel assulted because I told somebody the other you can't even ask from my word come and contest for counselor no because I do not see something that will match my intellect but that is not how it's supposed to be.

 local government is a government at the third tier and there are three tiers of government or three levels of government. Federal, state, and local, and the local government is government at the top tier government that people can see, government that people can feel, government that people can relate with, government that can take care of their earnings and their aspirations, government that can make their dreams come true, and I want to commend the President commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces of federal republic of Nigeria for this very bold move because some of us we already walked up.

 He also said I was discussing with somebody the other time I said I do not even understand why local government is no longer working but when I saw this  recent move i quickly told myself I think a new dawn has come for local government Administration in Nigeria and I just hope that these local government chairman and counselors will now look at this as an opportunity to show themselves who been made in that government position. said by  Dr Adrew Omosurfe
