Lanka Premier League is set to commence on July 1 and will feature both Sri Lankan and international stars.



The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is set to kick off on July 1, featuring a lineup of international and Sri Lankan cricket stars in action for three weeks of T20 matches at three iconic venues.

Key international players from the five LPL franchises include Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Agha Salman, Andre Fletcher, Fabian Allen, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Noor Ahmad, Rilee Rossouw, and Reeza Hendricks. The Sri Lankan contingent is equally impressive, featuring players such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Kusal Mendis, among others.

Samantha Dodewala, Tournament Director of Lanka Premier League, expressed her best wishes for the upcoming season, highlighting the exceptional talent on display.

The league stage will run from July 1 to 16, with the five teams - Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Sixers, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings, and Kandy - set to compete at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium in Dambulla, and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.

Anil Mohan Sankhdhar, Founder and CEO of IPG Group, the official rights holder of LPL, is confident in the league's continued success and its role in nurturing local talent.

The playoffs, to be held at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, will commence on July 18, with the final scheduled for July 21.
