Shettima Confirms Federal Government's Commitment to Reviving the Economy of the North East

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the federal government's dedication to fostering economic rejuvenation and progress in the North East region.

He made this declaration on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the North East Development Commission (NEDC)'s new headquarters in Maiduguri.

Shettima stressed the critical role of unity in redefining and directing the narrative of the North-East region.

He acknowledged that the ceremony reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's pledge and dedication to the area, highlighting its importance to the country.

"This institution represents our united determination to alter the region's story—from one tarnished by despair and destruction to one of renewal and victory," he stated.
Shettima pointed out that the groundbreaking event signified progress in fulfilling President Tinubu's commitment to prioritize projects that protect the North East's interests.

Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, commended Vice President Shettima for rallying support for the NEDC's effective functioning.

Yahaya urged governors and other key figures from the North East states to collaborate in realizing the NEDC's objectives.

He expressed sorrow over the Boko Haram insurgency's catastrophic impact, which he claimed had regressed the North East by 50 years.

"We must strive diligently to regain what has been lost, and with Vice President Shettima's encouragement and backing, we can accomplish it," he concluded.
