President Bola Tinubu confidently proclaimed that the nation’s security forces are decisively winning the war against insecurity in the Northwest. He delivered this resolute statement at the Northwest Peace and Security Summit organized by the North-West Governors’ Forum in Katsina, the capital of Katsina State on Monday.

Tinubu, represented by his vice, Kashim Shettima, reassured Nigerians that the substantial progress made so far is just the beginning, as the government is intensifying its efforts to ensure a safer and more secure environment for all citizens.


“Our military forces, through various operations such as Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Safe Haven, have delivered on their promise to the nation by targeting groups like Boko Haram and bandits who have inflicted prolonged suffering. Through enhanced border security and intelligence capabilities, we have effectively disrupted and dismantled criminal networks. Each of you present is well aware of the high-profile figureheads of these groups neutralized by our forces, and I am here to assert that this is just the beginning,” he declared.


He emphatically dismissed any insinuations that insecurity in the Northwest is a sectional agenda, arguing that any threat to any part of the nation destabilizes the whole. He underlined that the administration’s commitment to securing Nigeria remains its highest priority since assuming office over a year ago.


Tinubu confidently stated that the strategies employed by the government in combating insecurity in the region have already begun to yield positive results, affirming that there will be no slowing down until the objective of completely dismantling insurgents is accomplished.


He also asserted that the government is wholeheartedly strengthening collaboration among security agencies to ensure a unified, effective approach in the fight against insurgency. In addition, he stressed that strict adherence to guidelines, such as standard operating procedures and rules of engagement, is being enforced in all approaches to the battle against insurgents. Furthermore, he emphasized that the government is diligently coordinating joint training exercises, inter-agency cooperation, communication, and information sharing among security agencies.
