Days after meeting ex-Nigerian leaders, IBB, Abdulsalami, Atiku visits Buhari in Daura
Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, recently visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Daura, Katsina State. The visit, which took place on Saturday, also included the presence of former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, as part of Atiku's entourage.
This visit comes shortly after Atiku paid his respects to former military heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their respective residences in Minna, Niger State. Atiku had announced these earlier visits on X, stating that he paid Sallah homage to the former Heads of State.
These visits have sparked speculation that Atiku is laying the groundwork for a potential presidential run in 2027. In May, Atiku had expressed his determination to continue contesting for the presidency as long as he remains healthy. Additionally, there have been reports of Atiku's efforts to form a coalition with Peter Obi from the Labour Party (LP) and other political parties.
