Nigeria News: Two abducted students from Kogi University have been tragically killed by their kidnappers.

 

Two students, James Michael Anajuwe, a 100-level Information Technology student, and Musa Hussein, a 100-level Software Engineering student, were kidnapped by gunmen who entered the school on May 9, 2024.

Two students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) who were previously abducted have tragically lost their lives at the hands of kidnappers. 

The victims, James Michael Anajuwe, a 100-level Information Technology student, and Musa Hussein, a 100-level Software Engineering student, were among the students kidnapped by gunmen who attacked the school on May 9, 2024.

 Fortunately, 20 of the abducted students were rescued by security operatives and local hunters.

According to reports from the Nigerian Tribune, it is believed that the two students were killed by the kidnappers as an act of revenge for the killing of some of the kidnappers during the rescue mission.

Meanwhile, Education For All (E4A), a Non-Governmental Organisation, has strongly condemned the murder of the two students despite ongoing negotiations with the parents of the children.

 E4A stated that the act was a display of extreme cruelty by the kidnappers and an attempt to intimidate young people from pursuing education.

E4A further expressed sadness and disbelief over the loss of the students and called for collective action against those who attack educational institutions. 

The organization urged the Kogi State Government to collaborate with its Kwara State counterpart to take decisive action against the perpetrators, who are believed to be hiding in a forest in Kwara, near Kogi and Ekiti States.

The organization extended its condolences to the families of the deceased students and called on the National Security Adviser and the Federal Ministry of Education to reinforce efforts on the Safe School Initiative.

 E4A stressed the need for enhanced security in schools across the country, emphasizing that it is unacceptable to lose children who are simply seeking an education.
