The last time I was in London, I brushed a parked car the day before I returned to Nigeria.
I had shifted the rear bumper. I left a note under windscreen wiper for the owner with my Nigerian number. I didn’t hear anything for weeks and had totally forgotten about it.
Several weeks later, I got a message through WhatsApp from a lady of Indian origin, telling me her name and saying it was her car I had brushed. She had been in hospital and had just come out. We agreed that she should get a quote and I’ll just pay, rather than use insurance.
Today, she told me it had been fixed for free and I didn’t need to pay anything. I thanked her. Hopefully, she now knows that some Nigerians can be honourable…in the real sense of the word.
